Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

The University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM), Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science (PTRS) is recruiting for a 12-month, full-time, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek outstanding applicants to support our entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and PhD in Rehabilitation Science programs teaching mission as well as supporting the laboratory research goals in collaboration with the University of Maryland’s Medicine Institute for Neuroscience Discovery (UM-MIND).

Teaching responsibilities include didactic instruction within the PTRS DPT Program in areas of content expertise; participation in curriculum evaluation and development of the DPT program; engagement in scholarly activities; and service.

Rank and salary Assistant Professor. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About PTRS and the Campus:  PTRS is located on the professional campus of the University of Maryland in Baltimore, the founding campus of the University of Maryland system, residing within the research-intensive University of Maryland School of Medicine. The PTRS Department offers the Entry level DPT and a PhD in Physical Rehabilitation Science http://pt.umaryland.edu . The campus is within walking distance of Baltimore’s beautiful Inner Harbor as well as Camden Yards and M & T Bank Stadium. Additionally, it is within a one-hour drive of Washington, D.C. and is 20 minutes from Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport.

Qualifications include an academic Doctorate degree in neuroscience, physiology, bioengineering, or rehabilitation science; previous academic teaching experience, and the ability to work collaboratively and successfully with a variety of healthcare and research professionals.  The candidate should have evidence of scholarly work in neuromotor rehabilitation.

Preferred qualifications include an academic background, eligibility for a Maryland Physical Therapy license, evidence of funded research in rehabilitation with neuromotor disorders, and strong methodological and conceptual skills.
