Job Summary/Basic Function
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops course outlines for information literacy
  • Assists in collection development
  • Performs reference desk duties on an assigned basis
  • Updates periodical holdings
  • Administers all activities associated with the Serials Department, including ordering, binding processing microforms, filing claims for missing items, etc.
  • Supervises student assistants
  • Compiles bibliographies for faculty members
  • Conducts workshops for student assistants
  • Mounts displays and exhibits
  • Develops brochures
  • Participates in the budget process
  • Participates in developing annual goals and objectives for the library policies and procedures
  • Administers service at the Periodicals circulation desk
  • Prepares departmental reports
  • Participates in professional activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of a foreign language
  • Knowledge and understanding of growing Web-based reference and research services, particularly OhioLINK
  • Understanding and experience with application of current technology in a library and other instructional settings
  • Ability to resolve most common computer hardware and software problems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of new and emerging technologies and their application in an academic library
  • Commitment to professional development and service
  • Working knowledge of the book publishing industry
  • Membership in appropriate professional organizations
  • Ability to adjust to varying work schedules
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an American Library Association-accredited library school
  • Subject specialization
  • At least (3) years experience as a professional librarian in an academic library
