General Summary

The Department of Teacher Education at Eastern Michigan University seeks a highly qualified educator for a full-time 8-month, tenure track position in teacher education beginning in Fall 2024. 

The Department of Teacher Education is proud of its legacy for enacting teacher preparation and teacher learning and development that is deeply grounded in principles and practices that address diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and mentoring students at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. The candidate will be expected to maintain a focus in teaching, scholarship, and service as well as collaborate with colleagues throughout the university and community. The candidate will be expected to teach and serve students on and off campus, in face-to-face, and in online learning environments. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in literacy education or related field and completed by date of appointment from an accredited institution.

The candidate should have a scholarly agenda and teaching experience related to literacy education and field-based educator preparation.

The ideal candidate will have experience with school and community-engaged teaching and learning approaches, university-school partnerships, and a commitment to developing and fostering relationships with school communities to support field-based teacher education.
