The College of Health and Human Development (HHD) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is committed to student success. We are proud of our diverse faculty and staff. We have 50 staff members and a faculty of over 350 full- and part-time academic professionals who provide and support education, advising and mentorship opportunities to over 6,500 students enrolled in courses on campus and online. This number includes over a hundred doctoral students as of the fall 2020 semester.

About the Department:

The Health Sciences (HSCI) Department is multidisciplinary. Our students learn the ways that various factors affect the health of individuals and communities. Our professional programs are founded in the liberal arts as well as the physical and behavioral sciences. With over 1,200 students, we offer accredited degrees in Health Administration, Public Health, and Radiologic Sciences; and graduate-degree and certificate programs through the Tseng College. Our department is committed to teaching, scholarship, and student-centered active learning. We value equity and diversity, and foster the encouragement of innovation and community alliances. Each undergraduate degree program provides curriculum on the basic knowledge and training required for professional careers in the field, and is also excellent preparation for a career in medicine, dentistry, nursing, and other health-related professional graduate degrees.

Position:

The Department of Health Sciences at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in the Radiologic Sciences Program at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

The successful candidate, depending on individual expertise, will be expected to teach full-time. Topics may include but are not limited to: Cross Sectional Anatomy, Imaging Physics, Pathology, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and other related courses taught in the program. In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, and service to the department, college, and university. The position also requires that the applicant will be able to provide students with appropriate learning resources and mentoring to facilitate student success in achieving course, program, and University student-learning outcomes; demonstrate multicultural competence including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and creating an educational environment that affirms commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Required Qualifications:   

As a Hispanic-serving Institution (HSI), inclusiveness and diversity are integral to CSUN’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement. As of Fall 2020, CSUN enrolls ~40,000 students, where 56% are Latinx, 20.8% are White, 9.3% are Asian American, 4.8% are Black/African American, 0.1% are Native American, and 0.1% are Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.  The successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.

• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Sciences or equivalent degree from a regionally accredited university or college.  
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) certification and registration, and licensed or eligible to be licensed by the State of California as a Certified Radiologic Technologist.
• Minimum of two years clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Minimum of one-year experience as an educator in Radiologic Technology in a JRCERT accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications:

(Candidates are highly encouraged to provide evidence with multiple examples of the following in the application material)

• Master’s degree, or higher, in Radiologic Sciences or a closely related field from a regionally accredited University or College. If Master’s degree in progress, completed within two years of the appointment.
• Experience creating a student-centered learning environment that leads to equitable outcomes in a bachelors-level program
• Clinical experience/lab that includes supervising students from diverse backgrounds in clinical sites.  
• Experience teaching topics such as: Cross-Sectional Anatomy, Imaging Physics, Pathology, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and other related courses taught in the program.
• Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring and advising  
• Positive student evaluations as evidence of effective teaching
• Scholarship and research in a Radiologic Sciences related topic
• Publication in a Radiologic Sciences peer- reviewed journal
• Professional speaking experience at local, state, and/or national level
• Professional organization participation
