Job Overview

The College of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati is seeking to fill a, non-tenure earning clinical faculty position to contribute to the College's mission of teaching, service and scholarship. We are currently seeking candidates who are prepared to lead and/or teach in the Psychiatric-Mental Health and Doctor of Nursing Programs (DNP) in the Graduate Program. The selected candidate will be expected to foster an environment of equity, inclusion and belonging. This is a 12 month appointment with duties extending across all 12 months of the year. Primary teaching semesters may be Fall/Spring/Summer. Instruction requires both online and on campus delivery.

 

Faculty members in the Clinical Track are prepared at the doctoral level in a nursing specialty or health related field and hold non-tenure faculty positions that are responsible for teaching and program development and evaluation within their nursing specialty. May also contribute to clinical, scholarly, and service missions of the University, the College, and other activities, expectations for which may be described in letters of appointment and in their unit reappointment and promotion criteria. 


Essential Functions
  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars.
  • Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching.
  • Evaluate and develop curriculum for department and/or college.
  • Serve as an academic adviser for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Serve on college or university committees and participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Serve on graduate committees, supervise laboratories (where appropriate), independent study activities, and off-campus learning.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual’s academic specialty.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.

Required Education

Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree (DNP or PhD) from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the requirements of the position.


Required Experience

At least 5 years teaching in a university setting.

At least 2 years practicing as a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

 


Required Trainings/Certifications

Requires current and active Ohio RN license or the ability to obtain license in Ohio.


Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Previous knowledge of, and working ability to practice across academic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical environments.
  • Ability to provide formative and summative evaluations of students during didactic and experiential learning.
  • Demonstrate continued engagement in scholarship of teaching and discovery.
  • Two (2) years clinical experience.
  • Teaching experience in a university setting.
  • Innovative and open to the use of technology in the classroom.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
