The political science program invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Latin American politics beginning Fall 2025. An active research agenda and engagement in service at the institution will be expected of the candidate who joins our department. Full-time political science faculty at UHD are also expected to teach POLS 2305: Federal Government and POLS 2306: Texas Government though prior experience with these courses is not required.

Qualifications

 

Required: Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in political science from a regionally-accredited institution by the time of employment.

PreferredCandidates must demonstrate the potential to pursue an active research agenda in the international relations and/or comparative politics of Latin America; to teach and create new courses on Latin America; to develop teaching methods that promote active learning and engagement; to work with nontraditional students; to teach across multiple course delivery modes, which can include in-person, online, and HyFlex; and to pursue an active service life within and outside of the university.
