Job Summary:

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for full-time (1.0 FTE) assistant professor to work as optometrists in our growing academic ophthalmology practice at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center (SAREC).  The positions will provide outpatient medical and perioperative management of ophthalmic disorders, routine eye screening, visual acuity testing, and refraction at SAREC and affiliate sites of practice within the Denver metropolitan area. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct patient care at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center providing outpatient medical and perioperative management of ophthalmic disorders
  • Responsible for routine eye screening, visual acuity testing, and refraction
  • May prescribe and fit contact lenses.
  • Provides pre and postoperative management of cataract and refractive surgery patients.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
 

Qualified candidates will have completed a doctorate degree in optometry from an accredited program and must have a Colorado optometric license or be eligible. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OD with approved residency training in optometry.
  • Previous work experience in an academic or hospital-based healthcare environment is preferred.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and perioperative management of ophthalmic disease.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in routine eye screening and medical and perioperative management of common ophthalmic disorders is required as is the ability to provide pre and postoperative management of cataract and refractive surgery patients.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    $108,000 to $140,000 

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
