The University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business seeks applications for an assistant professor of practice (non-tenure track) in Decision Sciences for a position beginning in fall 2024. The Beacom School of Business is the flagship business school in South Dakota with programs consistently receiving high national rankings from U.S. News and World Report, the Princeton Review, and others. The Decision Sciences program is located within the Beacom School of Business, and faculty serve the needs of Decision Sciences majors and minors but also teach several courses in the Business Administration core that are taken by all business students.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate decision science courses, including production/operations management, project management, and business statistics. The faculty member is expected to provide an outstanding educational experience to students through classroom teaching, mentorship, and student activities outside the classroom. Duties include outstanding teaching, scholarly research or continuing professional development, and service to the Department, University, profession, and community. We have a particular need for a faculty member with experience and interest in operations management and statistics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes on the main campus in Vermillion, online, and occasionally in Sioux Falls, SD.
Minimum Qualifications A master’s degree in operations, project management, supply chain management, or a closely related field in decision sciences is required. Additionally, candidates must have potential for contribution to scholarship in decision sciences. Proficiency in oral and written communication also required.
Preferred Qualifications Candidates with private sector experience in operations management, or a closely related field are preferred. Candidates with prior teaching experience are preferred.
