Position Overview

Position Summary:
The College of Fine Arts at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Piano starting August 2024. The successful candidate will teach applied piano academic and pedagogy courses. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach Applied Piano, Class Piano, Piano Pedagogy, and Piano Literature
  • Provide private piano and class piano instruction to piano majors, piano minors, choral and instrumental music education majors, vocal performance majors, composition minors, and non-majors.
  • Recruiting, directing the Preparatory Program and creating a regional Piano Festival.
  • Teach additional music courses as needed by the department (collaborative piano, introductory music courses, aural skills, music theory)
  • Other related duties as assigned
 
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • DMA required. Significant experience in teaching applied piano and knowledge of piano literature and pedagogy at all levels, in addition to collaborative piano and sight-reading skills preferred.  
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • The chosen candidate will have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and must be committed to working on a campus that values cultural diversity.


Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
