Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
We seek candidates with successful experience working in diverse musical, social, and cultural contexts. The successful candidate will recruit and teach a studio of undergraduate and graduate percussion students who represent a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. The candidate will also lead weekly studio classes, coordinate and teach the percussion ensemble, oversee the administration and inventory of the percussion area, advise graduate students, and serve on dissertation committees. Other teaching assignments may include instrumental methods in percussion for Music Education majors, repertoire and pedagogy courses, and other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will maintain an active and visible professional profile; build professional relationships with local, regional, and national artistic institutions; cultivate an inclusive, welcoming, and healthy learning environment for students, faculty, and staff; and take part in a culture of service to the School of Music, the College of Arts and Humanities, and the University.
