Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Chemistry Department at Eastern Kentucky University welcomes applicants for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry to begin August 1, 2024.
Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper division disciplinary courses to fulfill ACS degree requirements in the discipline. The candidate will assist in course development and curriculum design to enhance the chemistry program, including online and hybrid courses. Research expectations include the establishment of an independent research program commensurate with a masters-level institution. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry with an emphasis in Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field, from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited or internationally recognized institution. They are expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with undergraduate students and the university community and be committed to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly activity.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry with an emphasis in Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field, from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited or internationally recognized institution.

Experience: Candidates for this position must be committed to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly activity.

Preference will be given to candidates with post-doctoral and teaching experience. Candidates with research plans that can complement existing strengths of the department are preferred.
