Program Statement:

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Interior Design is a rigorous eight-semester, CIDA-accredited program focused on developing future leaders in our field. Engaged in design-specific learning from their first semester in the program to the last, our students learn essential communication skills, design technologies, critical and systems-thinking tools, and creative problem-solving techniques in collaborative settings. They learn to approach designing through an empathetic lens, considerate of the diverse users of the built environments to elevate the human experience within those spaces. We promote the profession, prepare for licensing and registration, and equip students to utilize evidence-based design approaches for more sustainable, equitable, and meaningful designs that have the capacity to transform.
The program boasts of award-winning students that compete regularly in national competitions and win, such as the prestigious Donghia Scholarship. The students are coveted among the design community and sought-after for internships and future employment opportunities. Alumni are well-positioned and active members of the Nashville and broader design realms.

The Interior Design program is situated within the O’More College of Architecture and Design (CAD), which is a creative community of architecture, fashion design, fashion merchandising, and interior design that serves its undergraduate students by providing professionally oriented, liberal arts-based education.
