Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design offers the Bachelor of Science in Interactive Design (IAD). Housed in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the IAD program addresses the need for emerging competencies in user interface design and user experience design. Using an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach, the IAD degree develops the technical, theoretical, and creative skills needed to meet the demands of new, digitally-centered careers.
With more than 400 full-time faculty and 8,500 degree-seeking students, the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences prepares the next generation of leaders in a wide array of fields to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century and become contributing citizens in a global society. The home of three Schools and eight Departments, the College offers more than 80 graduate and undergraduate programs of study in both traditional and interdisciplinary fields. RCHSS provides students experiential learning opportunities to enable them to develop leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, as well as a strong sense of civic engagement.

Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Interactive Design faculty position in the Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design (TCID) that begins August 2024.
Responsibilities
Faculty at KSU teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. A commitment to excellence in teaching, an active and innovative research/creative activity agenda, and service to the institution are expected of all tenure track faculty members in KSU's Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences. A typical workload is 60/30/10 as follows:
- Teaching (60% or 3/3 load) Interactive Design courses.
- Research (30%) in an active research agenda.
- Service (10%) to Dept/College/University or professional community.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree (PhD, MFA, other), or the foreign equivalent, in interactive design, human-computer interaction, interaction design, user experience design, user interface design, multimedia design, product design, digital visual communication, or related field. Degree must be earned by the start date.
- A demonstrated record of effective teaching at the university level and an active research agenda.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated effectiveness (e.g., syllabi, assignments, student evaluations or summaries, peer or self-reviews of teaching) in teaching user research and interaction design methods. Related Interactive Design classes include Interaction Design I, Interaction Design II, Ethnography for Designers.
- An active research agenda in a field related to interaction or user experience design.
- Experience with externally funded research projects.
- Experience supervising students in research experiences.
