Job Description:

The Department of Art at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Instruction to commence Fall 2024. This position involves instructing introductory levels of undergraduate art foundational courses (Basic Drawing I & II, Basic Design I & II) and introductory levels of undergraduate art studio courses in the candidate's primary discipline(s). Dependent on departmental scheduling/need, additional instruction may include advanced level courses consistent with candidate's primary discipline(s).


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • MFA in a related studio required at time of hire.
  • Evidence of a high potential for academic scholarship
  • College teaching experience
  • Command of contemporary theory and pedagogical practices in art studio
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work supportively with students, faculty, staff, and alumni in the maintenance and development of a professional learning community
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant instructional experience in any combination of the following; Basic Design I & II, Basic Drawing I & II, and candidate's primary discipline
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign a plus
  • Demonstrated undergraduate support and success beyond the classroom
  • Evidence of a high level of creative practice or community engagement and outreach
