The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders seeks to fill a 50% teaching, 50% research tenure-track academic year Assistant Professor.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a research line with the potential for external funding, and providing service to the university. All faculty members are expected to advise graduate and undergraduate students and serve in leadership roles commensurate with rank and experience.

We provide a significant to service to the state by not only educating future speech-language pathologists who will practice in the state but also by providing services to individuals in our on-campus clinic and through community outreach programs in preschools, public schools, medical facilities and state organizations.

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related field
  • Commitment to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the discipline and institution
  • Record and promise of strong teaching ability
  • Ability to mentor and advise students
  • Potential for excellence in scholarship
  • Ability to engage students in research or translating research into practice
  • Commitment to institutional and professional service

Preferred:

  • Academic teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
  • Earned CCC-SLP
  • Licensure or eligibility in Maine as SLP
  • Potential to expand community outreach and collaborative research projects addressing rural health needs
  • An established research agenda or plan including, but not limited to: previous publications, grant funding, and/or participation in conferences
  • Expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas: autism/social communication, medical speech-language pathology, fluency, school-age language and literacy
