Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for Assistant Professor of Art and Design.

The Art and Design Department at the University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art and Design, beginning August 2024.

Duties/Responsibilities 

The Assistant Professor of Art and Design will teach all levels of graphic design including typography, interactive media, and other media/courses as needed. The position will prepare students for careers in traditional graphic design as well as emerging digital technologies including (but not limited to) web and social media design, motion graphics and animation, typography, and illustration. The teaching load for this position will be 3/3 and the candidate will also be expected to participate in typical departmental activities, program/course development, and to serve on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned in addition to other civic and community service. The Art and Design Department at USI has NASAD accreditation.

Required Knowledge and Skills

A Master of Fine Arts, Master of Design Studies, or Doctorate in a design-related field is required. Candidates in the process of completing degree requirements at application will be considered. Candidates seeking Master of Fine Arts or Master of Design Studies degree must have degrees conferred prior to hire date. For candidates seeking doctorate in design-related field, ABD considered at the rank of Instructor if doctoral degree is not conferred by hire date.
