Job Description Summary:
The University of Kansas School of Nursing is seeking applications for tenure track/tenured positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are in search of highly motivated scientists/scholars who employ innovative methods to tackle significant and demanding problems across the spectrum of nursing science. All applications are welcome; however, the following are priority areas of research: aging and dementia care, biobehavioral symptom science, determinants of health and health equity, nursing workforce, oncology, and rural health.

Job Description:

Conditions of Employment: Nursing Candidates must hold or be eligible for RN licensure in the State of Kansas and maintain licensure throughout duration of employment.

Required Qualifications
 

Education/Licensure:

  • PhD or equivalent research doctorate in nursing or related field.

  • Candidates who are nurses must hold or be eligible for RN licensure in the State of Kansas.

Work Experience:

  • Experience disseminating scholarship through oral and written venues.

  • Experience teaching and leading an academic program.

  • Experience with funded research from intramural and/or extramural sources.

  • Experience working on multidisciplinary research teams.

Preferred Qualifications
 

Work Experience:

  • Experience leading curriculum development/revisions or research efforts in an academic program.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Skills:

  • Excellent written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.

Job Duties Outlined

  • Establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program.

  • Disseminate scholarly work in professional publications and presentations at local, state, national, and international meetings, and through publications, town halls, and/or mass media to key stakeholders.

  • Teaching in School of Nursing programs according to educational preparation and program need.

  • Serve as faculty advisor to students.

  • Collaboration with faculty at KU School of Nursing.

  • Participation in course and curriculum development.

  • Service commitment to School and Medical Center’s clinical, academic, and research partnerships.

  • Develops and implements special projects as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.
