General Summary

The Department of History and Philosophy at Eastern Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship beginning fall 2024 in Middle East History.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates will be expected to pursue an active research agenda and teach three courses per semester (9 credit hours) at the undergraduate and graduate level. Area of specialty is open, and candidates should demonstrate a record of research excellence, relevant language proficiency, and the ability to teach the Arab-Israeli Conflict, the Modern Middle East, and courses that situate the Middle East in a global perspective.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience varies based on appointment standards located in the Departmental Evaluation Document for each individual department.   Preference will be given to candidates willing to cross-list courses with other relevant departments or programs at the university. The position requires a PhD in History or Middle Eastern Studies completed by August 2024.
