General Description / Primary Purpose
The School of Engineering at the University of North Florida (UNF) invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant Professor level, commencing August 2024. The position will strengthen the efforts of the legislative Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Initiative (AMMI), which supports the Materials Science and Engineering Research Facility (MSERF), BS in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and MS in Materials Science and Engineering at UNF. The candidate is expected to collaborate and work collegially with existing faculty and partners in these programs. Exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in all areas of Mechanical Engineering may apply, but primary consideration will be given to candidates with a background in material science with an emphasis in metals applied to additive and advanced manufacturing.

An earned Doctorate in Material Science, or other closely related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with potential to build an independent research program, as well as potential to collaborate with current faculty members. A commitment to excellence in research and teaching will be expected of the successful candidate, along with a willingness to learn. Collegiality, active service and participation in governance in accordance with the vision and mission of the school, college and university are also expected.
