The Information Systems & Computer Science is part of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology. Our department offers a range of programs designed to prepare students for exciting careers in the rapidly evolving field of computing. We offer an undergraduate MIS degree with concentrations in Enterprise Systems & Data Analytics, Networking & Security Management, and Project Management & Consulting, a Master's of MIS, and three online MMIS certificates.  

 

The Department of Information Systems & Computer Science in the College of Business & Technology at Georgia College & State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Management Information Systems with cybersecurity to begin January 1, 2025. 

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems or a closely related field. Strong candidates will be willing and able to teach a suitable range of classes (undergraduate, graduate, in-person, and online), maintain a program of research, provide appropriate service, and engage regularly with business experts and leaders in the field.

Provide quality teaching in the area of Management Information Systems specifically in networking, security, database, and IT strategy & governance at the undergraduate and graduate levels both in-person and online.

Provide service to the department, college, and academic community that is commensurate with rank and experience and aligned with expertise such as training on AI prompting. 

Teaching load is 9 credit hours per semester.

The option to teach in the summer is often available, dependent upon student demand null Produce quality research leading to published scholarly contributions in accordance with departmental and college expectations.

Develop, maintain, and engage regularly with experts in the field through events such as guest speakers inside and outside of class.

Faculty Teaching

Ph.D. in Management Information Systems, or a closely related field from an accredited university. 

Demonstrated excellence in teaching a range of Management Information Systems specifically in networking, security, database, and IT strategy & governance.

Demonstrated ability to developing and teaching High Impact Practices. 

Experience teaching with Packet Tracer, AWS, and SQL. 

Demonstrated ability to produce quality research and maintain a program of research across time. 

Demonstrated commitment to or interest in service to the department, college, and academic community. 

Demonstrated technological proficiency in Learning Management Systems (e.g.: GeorgiaView) and online teaching tools (e.g., Teams) 

Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))

Preferred Experience Hiring preference will be given to faculty who demonstrate an understanding of Georgia College & State University's mission and who will work closely with high-achieving students within an academic community dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through learning and scholarship.
