Position Summary
Tenure track 9-month academic position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Public Health at the University of Memphis.
  • Design and deliver social and behavioral sciences core courses at all levels as well as specialized courses in their areas of expertise.
  • Demonstrate excellent potential in building a robust portfolio of externally funded research. Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in multilevel intervention development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with other division members to enhance and complement our core strengths in community-engaged research, mixed-method studies, social epidemiology, community and urban health, health equity, and social determinants of health.
  • Desirable areas of research interest include cancer prevention and treatment, chronic disease management, diet and physical activity, youth violence, addiction and mental health, and digital health and social media.
  • Mentor and advise students, guiding them in their academic and professional growth, and offer support and direction to students pursuing research projects, internships, and other academic endeavors.
Minimum Position Qualifications
Candidates for this position must hold a relevant doctoral degree (PhD or DrPH) in public health or a related discipline and meet academic requirements for consideration as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. Candidates should have: (1) a record of teaching, publications, and involvement with extramural funding in public health research; (2) strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds; and (3) demonstrate program and partnership building experience in community settings.
