Illinois State University and the School of Information Technology invites applications for two tenure-track positions of Assistant Professor in Computer Science, beginning August 16, 2024.

Responsibilites will include teaching undergraduate/graduate courses, develop a focused area of scholarly research, supervise graduate students, and provide service to the University, College, School, profession, and community. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of core and advanced computer science courses, such as, but not limited to, high-performance computing, distributed and parallel processing, theory of computation, algorithm design and analysis, and software engineering.

The School emphasizes balanced excellence in innovative instruction and research. Candidates looking for a balanced experience that includes recognition and rewards for great teaching and strong research are especially encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in applicants with a demonstrated interest in mentoring first-generation students and those from other traditionally under-represented groups.

The School: The School of Information Technology (it.illinoisstate.edu) is one of eight units in the College of Applied Science and Technology (cast.illinoisstate.edu). The School offers undergraduate majors in Computer Science (CS), Cybersecurity, Information Systems (IS), and Computer Networking and two Master of Science programs: Computer Science and Information Systems. The undergraduate Cybersecurity program is certified as a CAE-CD. The undergraduate CS and IS programs are accredited by ABET. The School has approximately 900 undergraduate, 120 graduate students and 25 full-time faculty.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications

1) Hold a doctoral degree in Computer Science or a closely related field. Applicants with expected completion of the doctoral degree before May 15, 2025 will be considered.
2) Candidates should demonstrate evidence of an established research program in any specific area of computer science, ideally areas with potential to overlap or complement research areas of current faculty, and the potential to publish in high-quality outlets.
3) Candidates must demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
