Job Title:

Assistant Professor - Gerontology, Public Health & Data Analytics

Job Summary:

Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position to teach at the graduate and undergraduate level in Gerontology, Public Health, and Data Analytics, advise students, provide service to the institution and have current externally funded research with an expectation of continued support. The Assistant Professor will support programs in Gerontology, Public Health, and Data Analytics to continue Miami’s rich tradition of teaching and externally-funded research that addresses critical issues facing individuals, families, communities, and local, state and national governments. The Assistant Professor may request to be appointed as a Scripps Gerontology Center Research Fellow and have the opportunity to partner in an array of research areas. Examples of research areas of specialization may include but are not limited to: long-term services and supports, health, income maintenance, caregiving and families, intergenerational relationships, and implementation science. Miami and Scripps Gerontology Center researchers are widely known for state and national research that is directly relevant to decision makers. The Scripps Gerontology Center recently celebrated its 100th year; its mission is “to do work that makes a positive difference in the lives of aging individuals, their families and communities, and to meet the needs of aging societies.” The Assistant Professor will contribute to that agenda by doing applied research in partnership with state and federal agencies that provide health, long-term services, housing and social services to the older population. The position begins August 2024.
