The Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University is seeking adjunct faculty members with the passion to mentor, coach, and transform the lives of our students.
Adjunct faculty members are expected to coach students on our curriculum, moderate online discussion forums using their professional experience and expertise and provide effective feedback on student coursework submissions using the JWMI grading rubrics.
JWMI faculty members provide the highest quality education and maintain high standards of academic excellence.


Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 7-10 years Senior Level Management/Leadership/Operations Management Experience required in the related field
  • Must have one or more of the following industry experience/knowledge (Operations, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management (including quality assurance and control), Product Development, Operational Excellence, Lean and Six Sigma.  
  • Professional certification in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, Lean and/or Six Sigma is preferred.  For example, from APICS/ASCM and ASQ.
  • Must have the following industry experience/knowledge (process mapping, capacity analysis, operations design, quality improvement, inventory and supply chain management, Six Sigma and Lean operations techniques, forecasting, planning and sustainability)
  • A deep understanding and appreciation for Jack's management philosophy
  • The ability to both coach and instruct adult learners in an online environment
  • Experience with the adoption of new technology and tools
  • The ability to do occasional synchronous work with students
  • Commitment to student success
  • Maintain adequate records of student progress
  • Maintain smooth course operation and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to teach any of the quant courses when needed.
  • Experience teaching online at the graduate level
  • Mastery in presentation skills, planning and organizing of course objectives

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses as assigned.
  • Conduct office hours as deemed necessary by management.
  • Establish high standards and assure students understand how they will be evaluated.
  • Establish specific goals or courses of action for students to accomplish.
  • Maintain adequate records of student progress.
  • Assist the Campus Dean and Department Heads in evaluating course objectives.
  • Maintain smooth course operation and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Attend faculty meetings and discipline workshops as required.
  • Participate in early registration activities; retention, early degree completion.

Education:

All degrees must be conferred and from an accredited institution to be considered.

  • Terminal degree or working towards a doctorate (ABD) is required
  • Master’s degree required in the related field
  • Professional certification in discipline specialty (if applicable)

Skills:

  • Teaching experience at the college level
  • Demonstrated mastery of academic administration
  • Demonstrated mastery of academic technology
  • Demonstrated mastery of academic evaluation
  • Mastery in oral presentation skills, planning and organizing of course objectives
  • Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Professional certification in discipline specialty (if applicable)
