Assistant Professor Counseling and Psychology
The Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences and Gupta College of Science at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track joint position in the Department of Counseling and the Department of Psychology as Assistant/Associate Professor with emphases in school psychology and/or counselor education. The successful applicant will be appointed to a full-time nine-month position beginning in August 2024.
The Counseling program provides coursework for graduate students seeking specialization in School Counseling or Mental Health Counseling. The degree program prepares students to work with people in diverse situational and organizational contexts by integrating theoretical knowledge, research, and evidence-based practice. The Department of Psychology provides coursework for undergraduate students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, a minor in psychology, and concentrations in mental health, forensic psychology, and behavioral neuroscience.

Required Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
• An earned doctorate in counseling, psychology, or closely related field from a CACREP-recognized program (ABD will be considered if defense is by August 2024),
• A record of, or potential for, excellence in university teaching, research, and service,
• Experience or evidence of potential to support candidates through the dissertation process, by serving as a committee member and/or committee chair on doctoral dissertation committees, and
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• At least three years’ experience working in counseling, psychology, or a closely related field

• experience in distance or online course delivery,
• record of, or potential for, consistent scholarly productivity,
• experience with program planning and accreditation responsibilities,
• potential for leadership in program planning or in professional organizations, and
• success with funded grants and projects.
Responsibilities:
The duties include teaching, research, and service. Specific responsibilities will include:
• 3:3 teaching load – 3 courses provided to each college for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
• Advisement duties in each college (determined by department chairs); advising undergraduate (Psychology) and graduate students (counseling).
• coordination of practicum and internship experiences, including developing partnership sites and responding to inquiries regarding practicums and internship
• engage in scholarly activity connected to either department, and
• engage in service to both colleges at the department level and service to the home college.
