The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Pediatric Gastroenterologist to join a division engaged in diverse clinical and academic practice, including an active Liver Transplant Program.  The faculty appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience.  The qualified candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible in pediatric gastroenterology and have or be eligible for an unrestricted Texas medical license.  Liver transplant experience is beneficial, but not required. 

The successful candidate will be expected to serve as attending on the Pediatric Gastroenterology service and possess excellent teaching and clinical skills.  The School of Medicine has medical students at each level, and the division faculty is actively engaged in the training of these medical students, as well as for pediatric residents.  In addition, the Pediatric Gastroenterology division is actively pursuing the launching of a fellowship training program, so participation in a leadership role would be viable.

 The major criteria for appointment for clinical faculty is excellence in clinical care, scholarly activity, and service in the area the individual is expected to fulfill.  The selected candidate will join a division of pediatric gastroenterologists, including a pediatric transplant hepatologist. Besides the physicians, the selected candidate will work with nurse practitioners, clinic nurses, medical assistants, dietitians, and administrative staff. The selected candidate will work in clinics located at the Robert B. Green Campus, University Hospital, and at UT Health San Antonio’s Gateway Medical Park.  Areas of clinical focus include pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition, IBD, and intestinal failure.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is family and team oriented.
