The University of Wisconsin-Stout Psychology Department is seeking applicants with a clinical/counseling psychology background for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor to join our Psychology Department in August 2024.

As a teaching and application focused campus, we are seeking someone who is excited to engage in active learning experiences with our undergraduate students. The qualified candidate will teach courses such as: Abnormal Psychology, Clinical & Counseling Psychology, along with courses related to the qualified candidate's expertise areas, as needed. The qualified candidate will also be expected to engage in research, mentor and advise undergraduate students, and engage in service to the profession, department, and/or university. UW-Stout provides numerous opportunities for faculty to continually develop and improve on the quality of their teaching skills by offering on and off-campus professional development experiences each year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum/Required

  • A doctorate in Psychology or a closely related field with a focus on clinical/counseling psychology by employment start date 
  • Commitment to teaching undergraduate courses in clinical/counseling psychology

Highly Desired/Preferred  

Applicants should ideally be able to demonstrate evidence of experience or potential in: 

  • teaching undergraduate courses in the general area of psychology as well as in own area of expertise (e.g. abnormal psychology, clinical/counseling psychology) 
  • developing an active psychology research program involving undergraduate students
  • undergraduate academic advisement 
  • a commitment to service at the departmental and university level 
  • contributing to a climate (work environment) that embraces inclusion

RESPONSIBILITIES 

As a teaching focused campus, our faculty are expected to teach a variety of courses in their discipline and to provide student academic advisement. Faculty are expected to conduct assessment of student learning, which includes contributing to academic program assessment and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff. Faculty members are also expected to engage in scholarship and participate in university service to support continuous improvement and a culture of collegiality and civility.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION 

The Psychology Department 's purpose is to engage its faculty and students in discovery, critical thinking and self-development in order to foster growth as enlightened citizens, able to enrich lives in local and global communities. The department offers a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Applied Psychology.
