General Description / Primary Purpose
The School of Engineering at the University of North Florida (UNF) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Civil Engineering at the Assistant Professor level, commencing in 2024 with a start date of August 2024. An earned Doctorate in Civil Engineering, or closely related field with a focus on coastal resilience, coastal engineering, or a related area is required. Candidates with a professional engineering license or the ability to secure one within 2 years are desired. An earned Doctorate in Civil Engineering, or closely related field with a focus on coastal resilience, coastal engineering, or a related area is required. Candidates with a professional engineering license or the ability to secure one within 2 years are desired.
Departmental Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and interest in interdisciplinary research that contributes to enhancing the resilience of urban communities and infrastructure systems to the impacts of coastal natural hazards and climate changethrough theoretical, computational modeling, experimental or field approaches. A commitment to excellence in teaching and research, as well as the development of an externally funded research program, will be expected of the successful candidate. Experience with Florida-specific environmental issues is a plus. Collegiality, active service and participation in governance in accordance with the vision and mission of the school, college and university are also expected.
