About This Role:
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Lamar University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Chemistry beginning Fall 2024.
Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a PhD or anticipated PhD completion in Chemistry by August 2024. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is especially interested in scholars who specialize in organic chemistry. Most of all, the department seeks scholars who will further its goals of producing high quality research and providing innovative undergraduate education. In addition to area(s) of expertise, the candidate should be able to teach a range of topics and genres at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a variety of modalities.

What You’ll Do – Position Duties

As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

  • We seek candidates with an active research agenda that includes publication of research papers in peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and submission of proposals to various funding entities.
  • Faculty at Lamar University are expected to participate in service opportunities at the department, college, and university levels (e.g. advising students, serving as mentors to students, participating in committees).
  • Importantly, candidates should be prepared to teach a variety of courses in the undergraduate and master’s curricula including organic chemistry.
