Posting Text | The School of Natural Sciences at Black Hills State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) beginning August 2024. Faculty positions at BHSU have defined responsibilities in teaching, scholarship/research, and service (University, professional, and community). The successful candidate will be an engaging instructor with research interests that will inspire undergraduate students through classroom experiences and mentored research opportunities. DUTIES: The School of Natural Sciences offers courses on the Spearfish main campus, at the Rapid City University Center and online. The successful candidate will be expected to: Develop and teach Anatomy and Physiology courses at the undergraduate level as well as other courses related to the applicant’s area(s) of expertise at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Establish a research program that inspires and engages undergraduate students. Mentor undergraduate research. Participate in student advising. Participate in activities that serve the School of Natural Sciences, the University, the Scientific Community and the community at large. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Biology or related discipline with evidence of expertise in Anatomy and Physiology. Willingness to teach face-to-face, online and at our extension campus in Rapid City. Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Strong collegial and collaborative skills. Enthusiasm for working with diverse student, staff, and faculty. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for engagement, service, and the public good. Potential to publish in peer-reviewed journals. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching anatomy and physiology at the undergraduate level. A record of successful publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals. COMMENTS:
