Job Description

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in plant/human health biochemistry or molecular biology/biotechnology with relevance to developing a sustainable research program in plant-based bio economy or improving human health. We will consider candidates whose research interests fit within the broader subject areas encompassed by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (human health/plant/arthropods).

Position responsibilities will include developing a high-impact, nationally recognized, extramurally funded research program in plant biochemistry or human health and disease as well as excellence in teaching and service. Exceptional contributions to teaching in our strong BS, MS, and PhD programs in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology and to leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion are expected.

Required Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

  • A commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of postdoctoral research experience.

  • Teaching experience or potential to teach in the areas of biochemistry, metabolic regulation, protein structure and function, or related fields.

  • A record of research expertise and productivity commensurate with experience level in a relevant field of endeavor.

  • Outstanding biochemists or molecular biotechnologists are encouraged to apply.
