Job Description:

The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, one-year temporary, assistant professor in Behavioral Sciences - Human Services, beginning Fall 2024.   Applicants must possess a commitment to global social justice education and a fresh pedagogical perspective while providing students with a solid foundation as a generalist in human services.

Responsibilities include a teaching load of 4/4 per semester, student advising, continuing scholarship, and service to the University community.  Additional requirements as per the MSCA contract. Commitment to excellence in teaching, especially traditionally underrepresented and first-generation students, demonstrated teaching experience appropriate to the level of appointment, and evidence of scholarly/creative activity.


Requirements:

Minimum: Terminal degree in human services, psychology, social work, counseling, or related fields with teaching experience. Enthusiasm to teach introductory and upper-level human services courses, with an ability to incorporate theoretical knowledge and frameworks to real-world situations as appropriate. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body. 

Preferred:  Prior undergraduate teaching experience is preferred, especially in concert with the ability and willingness to teach a wide array of courses in human services. The area of specialization within human services is open. Evidence of interest and success in mentoring underrepresented minority students is desired.

Full-time, one-year temporary position, beginning September 1,2024

Salary commensurate with qualifications, experience and in accordance with the MSCA Bargaining Agreement. There are opportunities to teach summer, winter term, online, and undergraduate and graduate courses.

Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI) as well as a completed background check satisfactory to the university.
