Position Summary
Summary/Duties:
The Biomedical Engineering Department at The University of Memphis (UofM) invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor depending on qualifications of applicants.
The position will undertake research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following fields: biomechanics, additive manufacturing, biomaterials/drug delivery, implants, tissue/regenerative medicine engineering, imaging, bioelectricity, instrumentation and/or biosensors.

Memphis is home to over 50 medical device and life science companies including Medtronic Spine & Biologics, Stryker -Trauma & Extremities, Microport Orthopedics, and Smith & Nephew Orthopedics. The Department and Herff College of Engineering has many partnerships with these and other local industries for both research and education applications.
The University of Memphis is the largest public university and engineering program in western Tennessee with an enrollment of about 22,000 students and is as one of two flagship Carnegie R1 public institutions in the State of Tennessee. The Herff College of Engineering at The University of Memphis is nationally ranked in both its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Departmental BME faculty are known for their important contributions to the biomedical engineering discipline. The Department offers the B.S. degree in BME through the UofM and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees through the UofM-UTHSC Joint Graduate Program. Successful candidates must demonstrate potential for leading an independent and vibrant externally funded research program. The Department also places high valued on excellence in teaching, mentoring and community. Successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Minimum Position Qualifications
Assistant Professor:
A Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, or a closely related field by the expected start date.  Advanced ABDs will be considered, but doctoral degree must be earned by the start date of the position.
Associate Professor:
A Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, or a closely related field with at least 42 months of experience in as an independent researcher and or instructor in the biomedical or closely related discipline. 
Professor:
A Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, or a closely related field with at least 10 years of experience in research and or instruction in the biomedical or closely related discipline.
