Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
The applicant will have the ability to teach using various methods to engage students in learning, such as lecture presentations, group interactions, Blackboard applications, research, and the ability to teach using online modalities such a Collaborate.

The applicant will have the interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and the public.

The applicant will have the ability to work effectively in a faculty team. Demonstration of commitment to ongoing professional development required.

Experience teaching entry-level Medical Laboratory Science psychomotor, affective and cognitive competencies using various diverse pedagogical methods

Didactic and/or clinical teaching experience in a variety of areas of teaching (academic, clinical, continuing education, in-service).

Ability to work effectively in a faculty team, as well as function independently.

Commitment to and the ability to work effectively within the scope of the College of Health mission and to work with a diverse student and staff population.

Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; computer literacy.

Currency in contemporary Medical Laboratory Science practice.

Knowledge of contemporary curricular content for the education of the Medical Laboratory Scientists

Service on behalf of Medical Laboratory Science education, the community, and/or the profession.


Typical Experience:
Required Experience:

Minimum three (3) years’ experience in clinical practice.

ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technologist.

Preferred Experience:

Experience with web-based course design and delivery

Three (3) years teaching experience in Medical Laboratory Science education

Experience building and maintaining community partnerships


Required Education or Training:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution.

Evidence of ongoing professional development in Medical Laboratory Science

Preferred:

Active involvement and leadership in state and/or national organizations

Knowledge of rural healthcare systems education


Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track Assistant or Associate Faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package .

This is an in-person position located on the Anchorage campus; remote work is not available for this position.
