The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boise State University is seeking talented and passionate individuals to fill multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels. Through the newly established Institute for Microelectronics Education and Research , faculty will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders across all areas of microelectronics. Our strong partnership with Micron Technology's R&D facilities in Boise, Idaho, and a future $15B manufacturing facility will open doors to unparalleled research and manufacturing engagement.

Preferred areas of specialization for these positions should encompass semiconductor device processing and fabrication, semiconductor device physics, integrated circuit design, and/or computer systems engineering with emphasis in cyber-physical systems, cybersecurity, or emerging computing architectures. Additional information about each emphasis is noted below. Candidates must specify one of these areas in their applications.

Candidates in the area of semiconductor device physics and/or fabrication should have experience with some combination of process integration, physical and electrical characterization, or simulation of new logic or memory device technologies using novel materials and structures. Planned use of the Idaho Microfabrication Laboratory (IML) for device and circuit fabrication and obtaining external funding that supports research in the IML is a plus.

Candidates in the area of integrated circuit design will be expected to support the development of an IC design center for research and education. Experience with chip design, validation, and tapeout using advanced foundry nodes is crucial, and familiarity with design automation is a plus. Applications for these circuits could span many areas, including advanced memory, cybersecurity, novel computing architectures, biomedical engineering, and beyond.

Candidates in the area of computer systems engineering should have experience with embedded systems, advanced computer architecture, cyber-physical systems, and secure systems through cyber-informed engineering. Other focus areas could include emerging hardware and computer architectures such as neuromorphic systems, systems-on-chip, or processing-in-memory systems.

Minimum Requirements:  PhD in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, by the time of appointment.

Salary and Benefits:  Boise State offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits. The minimum 9-month salary at the assistant professor level is $105k.
