Job Description Summary
The assistant coach provides assistance in all phases of coaching the Division II Men’s Soccer program including; student-athlete recruitment, game preparation, player evaluation, academic coordination and practice and game day coaching. This is a full-time, 12-month position that reports directly to the Head Men’s Soccer Coach. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of soccer, and a commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
Job Description
Duties and Tasks:
- Assist in all areas of team performance, including pre-season, post-season training, practice, and competition.
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting team practices.
- Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
- Analyze game performance and develop strategies for improvement.
- Work with individual players to enhance their skills and performance.
- Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes, emphasizing the importance of both athletic and academic success.
- Coordinating travel for team trips, recruiting and official visits.
- Identify and evaluate potential student-athletes for the men's soccer program.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Student Success to ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements.
- Assist with evaluating, identifying, and recruiting qualified soccer prospective student-athletes, including assisting with off-campus evaluations and on-campus and off-campus visits.
- Monitor academic progress and provide support to ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements.
- Assist in organizing and managing game-day activities, including pre-game preparations and post-game evaluations.
- Adhere to NCAA Division II, SSC, and Saint Leo University rules and regulations, supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of the University and its intercollegiate athletics program as well as adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned by the head coach.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of coaching tactics and techniques.
- Well developed interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to recruit student athletes.
- Ability to motivate student-athletes.
- Ability to prioritize practice plans, recruiting and game management.
- Budget management experience preferred
- Must be willing to work and travel nights and weekends as the match schedule and recruiting requires.
- CPR and first aid certification
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous college or university soccer coaching experience
- College playing experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred
