Assistant Director, Philanthropy Operations - (240000KO)

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Foundation Board Relations is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director, Philanthropy Operations.

Primary Duties:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of department and provide general leadership for the gift processing and reporting functions including gift and pledge processing, reconciliation of bank deposits and gift receipting. Allocate resources to ensure goals for productivity and efficiency in gift processing are met. Prepare for peak times, such as calendar- and fiscal-year end, by scheduling and assignment distribution.
  • Ensure the integrity of the database through consistent input, maintenance, and review. Clarify, implement, monitor, and honor donors' intent and instructions, and ensure allocations are accurately documented in the donor records. Follow-up with donors and philanthropy staff to resolve gift issues. Create and compile fundraising, campaign and ad hoc reports as needed by senior management.
  • Ensure that all fundraising activities are conducted in accordance with ethical principles, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations, Council for Advancement and Support Education (CASE) standards and USM Board of Regents and
  • University compliance policies Recommend strategies to improve or adapt process to changes.
    Serve as an information resource to and develop relationships with philanthropy officers across campus in order to facilitate gift administration and communicate policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with University System of Maryland Foundation (USMF) to ensure the accurate and timely sharing of information.
  • Recruit, train, and manage staff by applying human resource principles in order to foster professionalism and a productive team-oriented work environment. Maintain effective communication with staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: Five (5) years progressively building a background in the various philanthropic functions, including at least two (2) year in donor data maintenance, donor support and stewardship, gift administration or advancement services.

Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of experience providing work coordination, training, or supervision of others.

Certification/Licensure: n/a

Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.

Hiring Range: $85,000 - $94,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
