Perimeter College is looking for a dynamic, innovative team leader to serve as Assistant Director or Retention. This position will work under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the Center of Outreach, Research and Engagement (CORE).


The Assistant Director of Retention plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the overall student experience at Perimeter College by implementing retention strategies and initiatives. Working closely with the Executive Director of the Center of Outreach, Research and Engagement, this position focuses on identifying and addressing factors that may contribute to student attrition. The Assistant Director of Retention collaborates with various campus departments to create a supportive environment that fosters academic success and personal development for undergraduate students.

Key Responsibilities:

Retention Development

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of retention programs and initiatives aimed at improving student persistence and success.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, student affairs, and other relevant units to create comprehensive retention strategies.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Generate reports and summaries to inform decision-making and provide recommendations for interventions.
  • Utilize student data and analytics to identify trends, patterns, and potential risk factors related to student retention.
  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in the field of student retention.
  • Apply relevant research findings to continuously improve retention strategies and initiatives.

Student Support

  • Provide proactive outreach to students at risk of attrition and develop intervention plans to address academic, social, and personal challenges.
  • Serve as a resource for students seeking guidance on academic policies, course selection, and campus resources.
  • Advocate for students within the institution to ensure that their needs are recognized and addressed.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, counselors, and other support services to provide a holistic approach to student success.

Staff Development

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to create a campus-wide culture focused on student success and retention.
  • Conduct training sessions for faculty and staff on best practices for supporting student retention efforts.

Programming

  • Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and programs designed to engage students and enhance their sense of belonging on campus.
  • Work with student organizations to promote a sense of community and connection among undergraduates.

Qualifications

: 

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree and three years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field.
    • 3 years or more working in the counseling, student advisement, or student retention and student engagement fields.
    • Demonstrated experience in student retention, academic advising, or a related area.
    • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of best practices in student development and success.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
