Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience will work as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience staff and serve under the direct supervision of the Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience. This individual will oversee marketing plan development and implementation, ticket sales, sponsor activation, and event presentation for Men’s Soccer and Men’s Lacrosse with a key focus on maximizing ticket revenue, increasing fan attendance, and enhancing the Maryland Athletics brand. The Assistant Director will also serve as the secondary contact for Men’s Basketball and oversee the football student section and on-campus engagement. Additional responsibilities include: Oversight of the student intern responsible for Gymnastics marketing, Oversight of Testudo’s Kids Club, Women’s Basketball and Olympic sport gameday operations assistance. The Assistant Director will also serve on the “Terps After Dark’’ planning committee and provide assistance with various duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience and Associate AD of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, experience, and training required in sports management, marketing, advertising or other related field.


Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of sports marketing experience . 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop. 

Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • NCAA Division I sports marketing experience at a Power Five institution.
  • Experience with revenue generating sports.

Physical Demands
The scope of the position frequently requires weekend and evening work (Non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc. Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and lifting up to 20 pounds.
