Posting Summary
 Rutgers University-Camden seeks an Assistant Director of the Application Development Team. The Assistant Director of RU-Camden IT provides management and oversite of the Web and Application Development Team at Rutgers-Camden. This team provides programming and web-based application development services to Rutgers-Camden faculty, staff and students, as well as maintains both Drupal and Wordpress content management systems. The team is comprised of web and application developers, each charged with developing, implementing and maintaining a wide variety of web-based products and services supported by Rutgers-Camden. This position will also be required to actively participate in the design and development of applications, systems and services of the department. Most applications are developed using PHP/MySQL. 
 
The Assistant Director will manage all web and application development projects assigned to the web team. They well be expected to supervise the documentation of project requirements and scope statements, manage timelines and deliverables on each project, communicate critical project details and timelines to stakeholders and management team, and balance projects between team members based on skill level and workload. 
 
This position is part of the management team of RU-Camden IT and works closely with the Associate Director of IT for Client and Application Support in setting goals and providing support in advancement of the mission and goals of Rutgers University – Camden.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience with four or more years of programming experience with solid knowledge of current programming languages and methodologies. An additional two years of experience with managing staff and complex projects is also required. Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels of university faculty, staff and administration.

• Experience managing a team of application developers. 
• Experience managing application development projects. 
• Advanced application development skills with PHP and MySQL. 
• Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel.

• Supporting Drupal and Wordpress, including module/plugin development and multi-site configuration and management. 
• Dynamic application development using Javascript libraries such as jQuery. 
• Integrating SOAP or RESTful API web services into advanced web projects.
