Summary of Duties:

 The Assistant Director of Housing Operations is charged with overseeing all applications, contracts, assignments, and desk services for up to 22 Residence Halls with the capacity to serve 6000 students. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervision of Residence Hall Operations Coordinator (1 FTE), residence hall license agreements and application, desk services (mail, keys, customer service, supervision of student staff), personal counseling, residence hall occupancy management, assisting in development and maintenance of online application tools including Housing Management System, and occupancy forecasting, as well as emergency on-call responsibilities.


Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.  Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.

  • Must be willing and able to keep regular hours and work some evenings and weekends.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programs, such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting under-represented populations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in student affairs or other relevant field.

  • Two (2) or more years experience with HMS Odyssey or other Housing Management Systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with students and administrators in a broad range of situations and demonstrate a genuine concern/interest for the welfare of students.

  • Demonstrated communication skills, public relation skills, and public speaking skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of student development and academic success.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student and staff population.

  • Experience with Intra or other mail management system.

  • Experience with key management and oversight.

Monthly Salary:

$5,485.73 - $6,214.85

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
