South Dakota State University (SDSU) is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Enterprise Applications. This is a hands-on technical role, that includes supervision and is responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of websites, databases, and various applications. We are looking for an individual with a strong technical understanding of the latest technologies and development methodologies available as well as how to integrate those technologies into new and existing environments. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.  
 
Enterprise Applications is a department of the Division of Technology and Security (DTS) which provides the technology, skills, and services that contribute to and support the mission of the University. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within a mentoring environment, this person will provide support services, project management, and reporting for existing and new university and system-wide administrative applications including student, HR, finance, admission, financial aid, recruitment, and resource scheduling and related systems. Direct the work of the programmers under the Enterprise Application team to ensure proper delivery, maintenance, and monitoring of the home-grown enterprise applications.
This position will also work closely with project managers, sponsors, and developers at multiple universities within the Board of Regents University system to utilize the tools to design and develop decision support solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or other relevant field by first date of employment; 
  • Minimum of five years progressively responsible information technology experience;
  • Demonstrate excellent project management skills with an understanding of the software development life cycle;
  • Experience with communication directly with peers, managers, and clients while leading development to a completed and successful solution; and 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Supervision experience;
  • Experience in API and integration development and management;
  • Experience in database design and management;
  • Consistent focus on customer service and end user needs;
  • Must be well-organized, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and possess strong self-management skills;
  • Ability to organize, manage, and work on multiple projects; and 
  • Experience in gathering requirements and project specifications.

Work Hours
