Job Summary / Basic Function | The Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives works closely with the Interim Chief Diversity and Inclusion Office and Assistant Vice President for DEI Student Support to cultivate an inclusive campus experience that facilitates student engagement, intellectual curiosity, personal exploration, and social inclusion. Position components include developing, implementing, and assessing programs, training, and resources related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The assistant director also has developmental and operational oversight of the activities of the DEI Center, including monitoring usage and activities of the common areas and cultural-related student group offices and coordinating the hiring, supervision, and training of the DEI Student Ambassadors. In addition, the assistant director coordinates underrepresented minority retention efforts, and serves as mentor, role model and resource person for students in their diversity education, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging in the University community.
