Position Details:

The Opportunity:

As the Assistant Director of Development, you will participate in establishing and planning fund raising goals, stewardship activities, cultivation, solicitation, public relations, and communications for targeted sectors for the Office of Foundation Relations. In this role, you will be responsible for budget oversight; grant agreement, award, and report processing; and gift strategies with a focus on gifts up to $24,999. Additionally, you will direct special events and site visits that focus on external constituencies, as well as manage travel and calendars for the Office of Foundation Relations.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience, which includes six (6) months of full-time experience in marketing, gift solicitation or public contact work with evidence of ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing and organize and execute assignments. A Master’s degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Experience which demonstrates skill with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to travel as needed between buildings on campus and off campus.

  • Ability to travel overnight and work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, for donor and alumni activities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fundraising experience at a comprehensive public or private research university or similar complex organization and/or demonstrated success in fundraising or relevant sales, marketing, or public relations positions.

  • Demonstrated experience with donor prospect research and ‘moves management’ systems.

  • Experience in managing multiple projects and setting priorities.

  • Experience and/or working knowledge of a CRM program.

Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - $5,397.56 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
