The University of Southern California seeks an Assistant Director of Development (ADOD) to work at the USC Iovine & Young Academy (IYA). Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Development & External Relations, the ADOD will assist in the building and implementation of IYA’s strategic vision for individual giving over $25k and oversee an implementation plan for management of an alumni and parent portfolio to increase revenue and strengthen donor engagement and stewardship. The ADOD will play a critical role in the creation of donor-centered communications, programs, and events that will enhance our alumni and parent giving and support the mission and strategic initiatives of IYA.

To grow a stronger fundraising program, there is a need for systematic research, identification, qualifying, cultivating, closure and stewardship of prospect donors. The ADOD will be responsible for ensuring a strong and growing pipeline of donors for IYA. The ADOD will also be responsible for providing administrative support as needed for the Assistant Dean of Development & External Relations, including but not limited to industry and corporate initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Plans, organizes and coordinates assigned fundraising programs and projects.
  • Plans and coordinates activities of volunteer and support groups. Recruits members and provides guidance and support to leadership activities.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with donors and volunteers.
  • Develops and coordinates acknowledgement and recognition processes for donors.
  • Establishes and maintains donor records and accounts.
  • Conducts research for the purpose of updating and expanding the donor base.
  • Identifies budget requirements and staffing needs on a project or event basis.
  • Drafts informational and marketing materials for review for assigned programs. Assists in developing support materials for specific fundraising activities.
  • May lead staff, volunteers, temporary and/or resource workers, as required. Plans and forms support and volunteer groups. Provides leadership, work guidance and/or training. Schedules, assigns and prioritizes workloads, as needed. Sets appropriate deadlines. Ensures timely completion of work.
  • Interacts with other university departments, as required.
  • May plan, organize and coordinate special events and activities.
  • Attends professional meetings and seminars to enhance professional competence.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Experience: 3 years

Minimum Field of Expertise: Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum work experience.

Preferred Education: Master’s degree

Preferred Experience: 5 years

Preferred Field Expertise: Volunteer or support group administrative or management experience. Marketing or non-profit management experience.

The annual base salary range for this position is $80,968.72 - $90,000.00.
