Assistant Director of Admissions & Alumni Engagement, Center for Security Studies - Walsh School of Foreign Service

Requirements
The Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) , founded in 1919, is a premier school of international affairs. SFS provides a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit value of service. Father Edmund A. Walsh, S.J.’s vision was a school that would prepare students for all major forms of foreign representation — official and unofficial, governmental and private sector, whether commercial, financial, consular or diplomatic.
The Assistant Director of Admissions & Alumni Engagement works closely with the Director of Admissions to support all Center for Security Studies (CSS)/Security Studies Program (SSP) admissions and alumni engagement activities, including on-campus and virtual recruitment, applicant file review, and presentations to the admissions committee. This individual oversees admissions and alumni data management as well as virtual, hybrid, and in-person events coordination. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Admissions
Work closely with the Director of Admissions to support all admissions activities, including recruitment, application review and presentation to the admissions committee, reading and evaluating applications for admission.
Serve as Co-Chair on the Admissions Committee to give each application a final review for admission decisions, reviewing applicants for, and award, merit-based academic scholarships.
Assist the Director of Admissions to create innovative recruitment strategies, such as weekly online informational sessions, targeted digital advertising campaigns, and in-person recruiting, working with various community and professional groups in graduate higher education.
Travel occasionally to graduate school fairs (primarily APSIA Graduate School Forums and Idealist Graduate School Fairs) to represent both SSP and all SFS graduate programs.
Respond to prospective students and applicant/admitted student inquiries via email, phone, and video conferencing platforms, maintaining up-to-date data on prospective students, applicants, and matriculating students through Slate, Georgetown’s CRM, and other enrollment systems.
Help manage the website, as well as SSP social media pages, with updates on the admissions process and announcements about deadlines, travel dates, events, and off-site appointments.
Ensure compliance with SSP policies regarding conditional admissions, maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive materials.
Student-Alumni Engagement
Coordinate the SSP Mentoring Program twice a year (Spring and Fall), which links current SSP students with alumni in relevant careers, interest areas, and shared self-identification.
Serve as the liaison with the GCC Career Advisor for SSP to link SSP students’ career interests with potential employment opportunities and forward career announcements to SSP communications lead, including information on new positions of interest, and information found by SSP faculty and staff.
Organize virtual and in-person career and networking events, including alumni speed networking, alumni career panels, and alumni research presentations for current and incoming students.
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Communications and Stakeholder Management to produce and distribute a monthly alumni newsletter to thousands of recipients.
Interview and create alumni profiles published on the CSS website, managing alumni data of current employment, contact, and information for SSP alumni to be used for SSP communications, admissions and career-related events.
Connect faculty members to alumni, whenever necessary.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
2 years of experience in student services functions (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Commitment to outstanding customer service are essential

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
