Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, International Admissions - Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Director of International Admissions is responsible for representing the entire university to prospective students and families, high school guidance counselors, and international agents. The Assistant Director of Admissions has a thorough understanding of university policies and procedures, a professional presence, and gives accurate information while abiding by the university and higher education best practices. This is largely a campus-based role. Travel within Florida and the United States is possible, and outside of the United States is occasional.

The incumbent is expected to support all on-campus recruitment events, such as Open Houses, Transfer Workshops, and other Divisional events. Office of Admissions staff are accountable for generating reports, informing, and meeting goals within their territory, and providing input to Admissions leadership to inform the bigger enrollment picture.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and reviews international undergraduate applicants from the point of application to enrollment. Collects, downloads, and evaluates necessary application documents and ensures all undergraduate admission criteria has been met.

  • Provides leadership & guidance for evaluation of transcripts for degree equivalency and grade point average; updates applicant/student records with data required for admission decision based on the review that was performed.

  • Reviews admission criteria to ensure compliance with state, federal, and institutional policy.

  • Counsels applicants and advisors about admission requirements. Responds to inquiries from applicants, advisors, and others about the application process.

  • Interprets complex rules and regulations set forth by the State University System of Florida, US Customs & Immigration, Department of Homeland Security, and other national and international educational and security & educational agencies.

  • Serves as a reliable source of information for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, Center for Global Engagement colleagues, academic program coordinators, and students.

  • Monitors and responds to inquiries from prospective international students, agents, and stakeholders using Slate, Outlook, WhatsApp, and other multi-channel tools.

  • Acts as primary contact for third-party recruitment agencies and the Center for Global Engagement.

  • Interprets best practices from leading national and international education agencies such as AACRAO and NAFSA for international admissions.

  • Serves as primary contact for NACES evaluation agencies on behalf of Florida Atlantic University.

  • Provides support in determining Florida residency to assess tuition and fees accurately.

  • Serves as a reliable source of support for domestic recruitment in and out of office operations (e.g., Information sessions, call center, and lobby support)

  • Ability to travel inside and outside of the United States for the recruitment of prospective international students.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Must be available to work on occasional evenings and weekends.
Required local, and regional travel is an integral part of this position.
Valid passport to travel outside of the United States.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle, qualify for car rental, and valid Florida driver’s license are required.
This position requires daily contact with students, faculty, staff, and the general public, which includes prospective student advising.

Salary:

$55,000 per year.
