The Global Experience Office (GEO) works with faculty and staff on experiential education course design, planning and execution. This includes project sourcing and scoping, on-site delivery, travel logistics and health, safety, and risk management for both the Required Curriculum (RC) Field Immersive Experiences in Leadership Development (FIELD) Global Immersion (FGI) and the Elective Curriculum (EC) Immersive and Extended Field courses (IFC/EFC).

Reporting to the Associate Director and serving as a key member of the FIELD Global Immersion team, the Assistant Director will work to establish relationships and develop projects with organizations around the world to support the required FIELD Global Immersion (FGI) course for all 930+ first-year MBA students.

In addition to developing a portfolio of projects for the course, the Assistant Director will set direction and have administrative oversite for the Global Partner team on aspects such as marketing, the Global Partner experience, the legal agreement process, the team’s CRM QuickBase, and materials for project related course sessions.


Position Description

Coordinate with the Associate Director, FIELD Global Immersion on the overall strategy and approach for FGI course content (projects, speakers, panels, visits, in-country organizations)

  • Develop and lead Global Partner marketing strategy (materials generation, maintenance, production).
  • Develop Global Partner Experience Program (onboarding, relationship management touchpoints, Live Online Classroom Sessions, giveback opportunities).
  • Delegate and manage Global Partner team operational projects such as Project Reveal, Quickbase development/maintenance, Legal Agreement Process.
  • Lead relationship and project scope and other content generation for a subset of FGI locations for FGI.
  • Establish relationships with Global Partner organizations for the FGI course, including location/industry research and lead generation, coach Global Partner Managers on the same.
  • Take part in extensive international travel for FGI outreach meetings with prospective Global Partner organizations across the globe- approximately four to six weeks per year.
  • Work closely with Associate Director, Co-Managers, FGI faculty leadership, FGI teaching faculty, and Global Research Center colleagues to develop, scope, and refine project proposals from Global Partner organizations, coach Global Partner Managers on the same.
  • Serve as primary liaison and point of contact for all issues pertaining to the content execution of FIELD Global Immersions for Global Partners, faculty, and students, as needed, Coach Global Partner Managers on the same
  • Manage relationships with Harvard Business School alumni and key stakeholders from departments across the school, including Global Research Centers, External Relations, Career & Professional Development, Executive Education, and others.
  • Coordinate the collection of legal agreement documents from Global Partners, students, faculty, and staff
  • Source guest speakers and coordinate content-related additions to the Immersion, as needed.
  • Maintain FIELD Global Immersion components in Quick Base CRM database, including contacts, project tracking, logistics, and feedback.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Communications teams on FGI course content logistics needs and travel considerations.
  • Serve as traveling Program Manager during the RC FIELD Global Immersion in May and/or EC IFCs (Immersive Field Courses) in January; Assist with site assessments, as needed; Other MBA duties, as needed
  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 5+ years of related professional experience in a client/stakeholder relationship management role
  • Computer literacy required; must have experience with Windows and databases.

  • You enjoy travelling domestically or internationally travel (four to six weeks per year) as required for project outreach and program coverage during student immersions

Additional Information

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
