    Percent time: 30%
    Anticipated start: Fall 2023
    Position duration: Initial one year with potential for extension.

    Position description

    The Assistant Director would support the programming, professional development, and liaison efforts associated with Community Based Literacies at the McEnroe Reading and Language Arts Clinic within the GGSE. Duties include ongoing correspondence, scheduling, planning, and outreach needed to support CBL-related family services, professional development sessions for local educators, and partnership programs at the Goleta Boys and Girls Club and Harding University Partnership School. This position would align with the clinic's hours of operation, hence the 30%.

    The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.


    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    PhD in education or related field or must have completed all requirements except for dissertation at the time of application.


    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

    At least two years prior experience with children in K-12 learning contexts as well as knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following—literacy development, language development, multilingualism, and research-based literacy practices and assessments. By the time of the start date, the hire would have their PhD degree.


    Preferred qualifications

    Multilingual abilities; Spanish speaking and/or other literacy abilities.
    Knowledge and experience working within the local community context, working with schools, teachers, families, etc.
