Position Summary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Plan, develop, implement and manage strategic design of marketing initiatives in assigned areas such as, but not limited to, events, publications, publicity, communication, web, marketing research, social media, advertising, copywriting, public relations and crisis communications; research relevant issues, solicit input from appropriate sources, conduct strategic analyses, and propose and implement solutions and initiatives which will achieve identified objectives and goals.
  • Works under the leadership for the CMCO to negotiate advertising rates and contracts for all advertising in all target markets.
  • Tracks spending and initiates accounts payable functions.
  • Develops, manages and assesses advertising traffic.
  • Works with the MarCom team to produce advertising content. Ensures creative assets are finalized and implemented by established deadlines, and completes other duties as assigned.
  • Manages and leads all Dedication & Blessing event committees, ensuring all university entities are present during the planning process in full collaboration.
  • In collaboration with others on team, this individual formulates a strategic marketing and communications vision for messaging and branding that enhances and supports overall university goals in enrollment, alumni engagement, fundraising, volunteerism and pride in Gannon University.
  • Leads efforts and strategically works to maintain Reputation Management for the University.
  •  Develops and maintains professional contacts and affiliations with representatives of local, regional, national and international media to promote the dissemination of news and publicity related to assigned areas; develop and write news releases as appropriate.
  • Handles media inquiries, and proactively positions university experts and news stories with media outlets; coordinates media interviews with faculty, staff and students as needed.
  • This person is a member of the university’s Crisis Response Team who, with the DOMC coordinates and executes university messaging and strategies. This means this individual is on call 24/7.
  • With the Content Marketing Strategist, this individual coordinates writing for the college’s publications, press releases, public relations advertising copy, media relations, social media, fact sheets, Webpages, emails and other items as needed.
  • Assists the Social Media and Digital Engagement Manager, this individual develops and implements the social media strategy and calendar for the college and works with other members of the department to ensure optimal utilization of social networking channels.
  • Performs other duties related as assigned.
Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATION-EDUCATION:
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field

QUALIFICATION-EXPERIENCE:
  • Five to ten years of work experience in the area of marketing, sales, advertising or a related field.
  • Advertising, hospitality or nonprofit industry experience is preferred.
  • Requires demonstrated abilities in marketing, driving sales, project management and leading teams to take ideas from concept to implementation.
  • Resourceful, problem-solving style who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and fosters collaborative relationships.
  • Solid project management, with ability to independently manage multiple projects on time.
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and work well under pressure; adaptable to changing priorities and demonstrated ability to mobilize resources.
  • Proficiency with Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy University environment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a busy office and University setting. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours, evenings and/or weekends in conjunction with special events, promotions, videography and photography shoots, media relations and social media needs.
